Excelled in business in insurance industry before opening his first coffee shop in the Arts District in 2014. Now has five satellite Makers & Finders locations in Las Vegas with a Chinatown location baking empanadas and roasting coffee for each location. Understands the importance of education for at risk students in underserved locations and is a role model for earning college credits while attending Nevada State High School.

Carrie Sue Hilton

Educator, Clark County School District

Qualifications:

Experienced music educator in Clark County School District since 2009. Has taught music to students in grades K-8, led annual concert and musical performances at school and in the local community. Led music organ and piano performances for her local church group. Supporter of charter schools and school choice and was a parent of two children that graduated from Odyssey Charter School.

Hector Gonzalez

Qualifications:

Worked as dishwasher, tire shop, pita bread packer, at 17 started working at a tax preparation firm. Was top 3 nationwide tax preparer for ToroTax in 2013. Started his own tax preparation firm with a desk and printer with the support of family and friends. In 2015 opened TaxPro at current location. Now leads a team of 7 employees with 1,700 customers annually. Supporter of charter schools and school choice. Serves as a mentor to at risk students showing that you can grow to be a successful business owner even starting with a GED. Previously attended Western High School.

Qualifications:

Experienced local real estate agent in Las Vegas since 2015. Parent and supporter of school choice and charter schools. Has sold several properties in Las Vegas and has many local connections in the real estate and education communities. Familiar with Opportunity Zones and areas of economic development need and has connections in the 89107 zip code.

Johnny Dominguez

Qualifications:

Executive Director of Leaders in Training (LIT), an organization committed to empowering students from underserved communities in East Las Vegas. A decade of experience in college access and success programs in Southern Nevada and a Master of Education in Higher Education Administration from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. Holds organizational leadership certification, and also served on the UNLV Academic Success Center Advisory Board.

Greg Mingo

Mentor, Math, & Science Teacher at Doral Academy – Fire Mesa

Qualifications:

Has more than 30 years of experience in education. Currently a 5th grade Math and Science teacher as well as a teacher mentor at Doral Academy – Fire Mesa. Retired CCSD principal for both elementary and secondary. Graduate of the Leadership Institute of Nevada (LION). Elected first president of LION Alumni Board. Completed field study and pilot for the National Board Certification for Principals. Recipient of the Nevada Trans-Disciplinary Inclusion Project scholarship designed to promote inclusive educational settings for students with disabilities. Consistent champion for students who struggle with the traditional school routine and structure. Always looking to find a better way to educate students.
